Research Project - Stepfamily Dynamics - Narratives of Mothers

Fill in our research form
This website and the creation of StepIn asap have arisen from Claire Asherson Bartram's doctoral project 'Narratives of Mothers in Stepfamilies, an Explorative Inquiry.

The overall aim of the project is to bring stepfamily issues forward among psychotherapists and other professionals, and to develop resources for people in stepfamily situations. Workshops at conferences, professional development workshops and publications about stepfamilies as well as groups and therapy for people in stepfamilies are all part of this. A further ambition is to encourage the inclusion of stepfamily issues in psychotherapy trainings.

We have a research form that we are asking people to fill in to let and let us know what might interest you. If you email Claire Asherson Bartram she will send one out to you.

I would be happy to hear from anyone interested in my projects. Please contact me by email: Claire Asherson Bartram and forward this to anyone that you think may be interested.

Fathers Wanted!!
for short interview as part of a research project conducted by Graham Shavick.

"I am working and training (at Regent’s College, London) as a psychotherapist. I have a two year old boy and 2 teenage stepchildren, and am therefore fascinated to discover more about fathers in similar situations.

I’m looking for fathers who would be willing to be interviewed about their experience of parenting for my dissertation. I would like to interview fathers who have both stepchildren and their own children. I’m interested in how their own upbringing influences the way they are now as fathers.

The interview will take place at a mutually convenient location. The questions will be stimulating, thought provoking and it’s likely you will learn more about yourself. It will last between one and two hours and will take place later in the spring. Everything is completely confidential and all names will be changed in my final report".

If you’re interested in taking part, or alternatively know someone else who might be, please contact Graham Shavick, 07734 297637 or email Graham Shavick
