Families have Changed;
Navigating Contemporary Family Structures
Weekend Training and CPD Event
Presentations and Workshop
June 19th & 20th 2010
With Dr. Claire Cartwright of Auckland University, Dr. Claire Asherson Bartram, Jon Blend, Joan Bruggen, Sue Fox, Debbie Friedman and Graham Shavick
An increase in the number of stepfamilies challenges concepts of what a ‘normal’ family looks like in the present day. Over the weekend we will be looking at the phenomena of contemporary family structures from a variety of perspectives. We will do this through presentations from researchers and practitioners in the field, explorations aimed to inform from personal experience and discussion.
On the first day presentations will include; hidden dynamics of stepfamilies, the architecture of feelings around stepfamily issues, stepfamily myths and archetypes, implications for children, and a therapeutic model for work in this area. The second day will be a workshop for professionals and non-professionals.
The weekend is suitable for therapists and practitioners in the field. It will provide 10 hours CPD. The second day is suitable for anyone interested in stepfamilies.
Times: 10.00 – 5.00 on both days.
Venue: In North/NorthWest London – to be announced
Cost: £150 (£85 for 1 day, concessions available).
